Under the spreading chestnut tree I sold you and you sold me
A few days ago, I wandered home from the grocery store accompanied with a paper bag of mushrooms, and with a more or less weight on my shoulders which have been comfortably settled in my cognitive thinking.
I stopped at a roadside with fallen chestnuts, and recalled autumn days when I was much younger than I am now, with a voice behind my back explaining that a chestnuts in pockets grant luck.
- "If there's something I need, it's luck", I thought and leaned down to pick up a couple of them with my salad fingers. During the spectacle of my search of the chestnuts in the pavement and the wet grass, an eldery woman with three children shows up, whom I understand was her grandchildren, staring at my current activity. After some time, one of the children, a boy, outbursted; "I also want to look for chestnuts", and suddenly I, the older one and the three children crawled around, looking for the best chestnuts. After six chestnuts in the grocery bag and one in my pocket, I continued my walk homeward. On the way, I hear the lady tell the children about how chestnuts in pockets grant luck.
Darn beautiful moments in darn dark times.

Hur känner du inför det?
I love those unexpected moments that just seem to make days significantly better. It's such a rarity to ever have a day and I wouldn't mind having more of those days. Then again, I wouldn't be as surprised or as happy if it consistently happens. I should get some chestnuts soon.

on the exact day as i have read this post, an old senile man came to me as i was sitting in a caffeteria and put a huge chesnut on my table :) he didnt say anything, just stopped for some seconds, staring at me and then he left with his bag full of chesnuts...this year's summer sucked and i have no good feeling about better times coming soon..still, atleast we can hope for a bit of luck.
Greetings to u Cosette, I'm your loyal follower even though i dont blog:) so keep the good things going *
curious about the title of this post – is this a reference to the book 1984?
I'm a great fan of your blog, you've got an unique sense of style and you're far from the generic snobbish fashion blogger. I like that your posts are honest and have a personal touch. And, about the chestnuts, I have gathered a small collection of them this autumn, as my daughter is especially interested in them:)
